While stating this here today, Organising Committee President Harbhajan Singh Kapur said top 16 teams from all over the country, including defending champions Government Model School, Jalandhar and runners-up Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School, New Delhi and teams from Malaysia and Pakistan would compete in the tournament.
The league-cum-knockout tournament carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh for the winners, Rs 60,000 for runners-up while the third position team will get Rs 40,000.
Mr Kapur said in the tournament, the organising committee would select the best goalkeeper, the best fullback, the best halfback and the best forward. Each best player would receive Rs 5,000, he added.
Meanwhile, the All India Surjit Memorial Hockey Tournament will be conducted in Jalandhar from October 26 to November 2, while the All India Gurmit Hockey Tournament will be held in Chandigarh from November 3 to 13. The Nehru Hockey Tournament will commence on November 14 in New Delhi.
