One killed, five injured in accident in HP

Solan, Oct 8 (UNI) A Chandigarh school boy was killed and his five other friends were injured after their car veered off the road and fell into a gorge at Chakki Ka Mour on the Kalka-Shimla National Highway today, police sources said.

The accident took place on a kutcha road leading to Bhojnagar to which the students had turned their car from Kalka-Shimla highway.

The sources said the injured, including three girls, were referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital at Chandigarh.

The students of Kailash Behl DAV Senior Secondary School were on joy ride to the hill state as a sports tournament was going on in their school.

While Gaurav, a plus one student, died on the spot, others identified as Navpreet, Mehak, Palkeet, Navpreet and Anni suffered minor injuries.

A case has been registered and investigations are on, the sources added.

Fatehabad, Oct 8 (UNI) A migrant labourer was killed and four others injured when the paddy thresher on which they were sitting overturned near Hanspur village in the district today, police here said. Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Oct 8 (UNI) Four people died and about 12 were injured, three of them seriously, when their bus overturned at Kota in area in this district, police said. Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gupta said the injured were admitted to hospital in Kota. Kota Deputy Superintendent of Police B S Negi, who witnessed the accident, said four people, including bus driver and conductor, died on the spot. The bus was heading from Bilaspur to Kodwa Konal when incident occurred.....

SWR to run weekly specials

Hubli, Oct 8 (UNI) South-Western Railway (SWR) will run weekly special trains between Yesvantpur and Jodhpur to clear rush of passengers during the forthcoming festival season. Students block road

Puducherry, Oct 8 (UNI) Traffic to Villuppuram via Nettapakkam was affected for over an hour today as students of the Ramamurthy Government High School along with their parents put up a road blockade at Madukarai, demanding immediate filling up of vacant teachers' posts.
