One gets life imprisonment in Darbhanga

Darbhanga, Oct 08 (UNI) A fast track court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murder.

Fast track court judge Rudra Pratap Singh found Bhutta Yadav guilty of killing his co-villager Kari Yadav, a native of Lagna village under Ghanshyampur police station in the district.

According to the charge, the victim was beaten to death by the convict on May 15,1995 following personal enmity.

Allahabad, Oct 8 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has stayed the arrest of the husband of zila panchayat chairperson, Allahabad, Rekha Singh, in connection with an FIR lodged against him on September 24 at Kotwali police station. Rent enhancement is landlord's fundamental right: HC

Allahabad, Oct 8 (UNI) In a significant judgement, the Allahabad High Court has ruled that the rent enhancement is a fundamental right of a landlord and thus, a notice might be served upon a statutory tenant asking him to enhance and pay the rent/compensation at the prevailing market rent. On failure of the tenant to do so, a suit for the recovery of rent arrears and compensation might be filed, HC noted. The order was passed by Justice Rakesh Tiwari on.....

Ancient 'ashtdhatu' cannon found

Morena, MP, Oct 8 (UNI) An ancient 'ashtdhatu' cannon, weighing about 1.5 kg, has been recovered from forest near this district, police said. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Rajesh Mishra said policemen were chasing a jeep, which was fleeing after hitting a bicycle-rider last evening, when the passengers threw the cannon near Rajghat bridge and fled leaving the jeep behind. 2 tourists commit suicide in Varanasi

Varanasi, Oct 8 (UNI) Two tourists allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents here today. Jai Prakash Singh (40) of Buxar in Bihar, was involved into road contracts buisness at the neighbouring Sonebhadra district and had booked a room at a hotel in Parade Kothi area on Saturday. Eyewitnesses at the Hotel said that there were no signs from him after Sunday morning, when he had called up for tea. On suspicion, the hotel staff called up the Sigra Police.....
