Mah Govt sanctions special financial assistance to rice producers

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has sanctioned Rs 142.70 crore as special assistance to rice-growing farmers of the state for the year 2006-07.

Under this, the government would give Rs 1,000 per hectare and maximum upto two hectares to them. Of the sanctioned fund, Rs 50 crore was sanctioned from contingency fund on June 22. Now, the government has given an approval to disburse the balance fund of Rs 92.70 crore.

Shillong, Oct 8 (UNI) An ''area commander'' of a Meghalaya-based banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council militant outfit today surrendered before General Officer Commanding 101 Area Major General Vinod Nayanar. HNLC area commander Bajop Dympep, who was active with the militant outfit, was operating at Dawki area, bordering the Indo-Bangla border of Jaintia Hills district. Six per cent DA for Orissa govt employees

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced six per cent DA for all the government and all aided educational institutions' employees in the state. The DA will be made effective from January 2007 but the employees would receive the arrear DA from January 2007 to September 2007 after March 2008 as the necessary fund for the purpose would be passed in the next Supplementary budget, official sources said.
