Jawan killed in naxal encounter

Kanker, Chhattisgarh, Oct 8 (UNI) A CRPF jawan was today killed during an encounter between CRPF personnel and naxalites near Tode village in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

A search campaign was being carried out by CRPF personnel near the village in view of Bastar Development Authority Vice-Chairman and MLA Vikram Usendi's programme when the encounter took place.

The deceased jawan was identified as Anoop G Nayak (24).

Morena, MP, Oct 8 (UNI) An ancient 'ashtdhatu' canon, weighing about 1.5 kg, has been recovered from forest near this district, police said. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Rajesh Mishra said policemen were chasing a jeep, which was fleeing after hitting a bicycle-rider, last evening. MP HC issues notice to Information Commissioner

Jabalpur, Oct 8 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notice to the Information Commissioner on a petition over dispute between the Lokayukta and the CIC over area of jurisdiction. Hearing a petition by Special Police Establishment, a single-member bench of Justice A K Srivastava issued notices to the Information Commissioner, Sehore-resident accused Ramnarayan Rathore and advocate Prakash Uppadhyay. Vengsarkar warns senior players
