ISRO Chairman to deliver lecture at SU Campus

Rajkot, Oct 8 (UNI) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Prof G Madhavan Nair will inaugurate the building of Vikram Sarabhai Centre for Space and Atmospheric Science at the Saurashtra University Campus here on October 9.

Prof Nair will also interact with the University students and deliver a speech at the inauguration ceremony, Saurashtra University Registrar G M Jani said.

The function has been organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Saurashtra University, Mr Jani informed.

Seven members of Pardhi dacoit gang arrested

Korba, Chhattisgarh, Oct 8 (UNI) Seven members of dreaded Pardhi dacoit gang were arrested from Bhimsenia forest in Pali area in this district last evening, police said. On a tip-off that seven armed people were roaming in forest, a police team cordoned off the area and nabbed the bandits. During interrogation, the arrested admitted to having links with the Pardhi gang. Pardhi gang had committed several crimes like loot and dacoity. Some of its member were arrested in Bilaspur recently......

Jawan killed in naxal encounter

Kanker, Chhattisgarh, Oct 8 (UNI) A CRPF jawan was today killed during an encounter between CRPF personnel and naxalites near Tode village in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, police said. A search campaign was being carried out by CRPF personnel near the village in view of Bastar Development Authority Vice-Chairman and MLA Vikram Usendi's programme when the encounter took place. Morena, MP, Oct 8 (UNI) An ancient 'ashtdhatu' canon, weighing about 1.5 kg, has been recovered from forest near this district, police said. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Rajesh Mishra said policemen were chasing a jeep, which was fleeing after hitting a bicycle-rider, last evening. About 3-4 jeep passengers threw the canon near Rajghat bridge and fled leaving the jeep behind. A bloodstained rod was seized from the jeep. UNI.....

MP HC issues notice to Information Commissioner

Jabalpur, Oct 8 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notice to the Information Commissioner on a petition over dispute between the Lokayukta and the CIC over area of jurisdiction. Hearing a petition by Special Police Establishment, a single-member bench of Justice A K Srivastava issued notices to the Information Commissioner, Sehore-resident accused Ramnarayan Rathore and advocate Prakash Uppadhyay. Petitioner's counsel Gurpal Singh Ahuliawala told the court that the Lokayukta had caught Rathore red-handed while accepting bribe. A chargesheet was.....
