New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Delhi High Court today directed the Land Acquisition Collector, North-West Delhi(Kanjhawala) to award the supplementary amount to the five villagers whose land had been acquired in the year 2002 by the department but no compensation had been paid still.

Justices T S Thakur and Veena Birbal directed the Collector to release the amount to the petitioner within three months and inform the court.

The land of Sri Krishna and his four brothers Sri Chand, Captan Singh, Sahib Singh and Vijender was acquired by the Land Acquisition Department and the compensation was awarded in 2002.

However, a chunk of land measuring three bighas and 19 biswas which had an orchard was left out. The Horticulture Department had to file an evaluation report stating the value of the trees according to which compensation was to be paid.

The lawyer for the petitioners, Sachidanand Chaturvedi, told the court that though the Horticulture Department had filed its report in 2005, the amount has not yet been disbursed to the petitioners.

The collector had contended that they are awaiting the reply from the Horticulture department. The court then directed them to pay a supplementary award till the report of the department was released but they failed to do so till now.

The court on May 5 last had directed the Collector to deposit the amount in the court which they adhered to but till now the petitioners have not received the amount yet.

The court has now directed the collector to pay the amount within three months.
