HC accepts Amarinder's plea to go abroad

Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today allowed former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to go to Dubai and Britain in connection with his investment plans and medical check up, from October 11 to November 30.

However, Justice Ranjit Singh adjourned, till October 15, hearing on the petitioner's plea for grant of blanket bail against any future case which might be registered against him by the Punjab Police or the Vigilance Bureau should give him advance notice of ten days, so that in case of arrest or interrogation, he can arrange legal assiatnce.

The adjournment was done to enable the Punjab governent to file its counter affidavit in rsponse to the petitioner's affidavit in this respect.

Shiv Sena retains ward number 152

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) Shiv Sena's Komal Jamsandekar, widow of slain municipal corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar, won the civic bypolls from Ward Number 152 in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation by defeating Manihar Mohammed Ayub Abdul Aziz of the Congress by a margin of over 4000 votes. The bypoll was necessitated after Kamlakar Jamsandekar was killed by unknown assailants a few months ago. The total votes polled in the by-polls was 12,886 and Jamsandekar secured 8,767 votes as against Mr Aziz's 2409 votes......

Congress retains Nanded municipal corporation

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) Congress retained power in the Nanded Municipal corporation in Marathwada region, bagging 38 out of the total 73 seats. NCP won ten seats, BJP three, Shiv Sena nine, MNS, SP and BSP one each, independents six and others four. In the by-elections to 22 wards of municipal councils, Congress bagged eight, NCP three, BJP and shiv sena two each and others won seven seats. By-elections were held for 25 seats in Municipal corporations. NCP won eight, Congress.....

80 pc polling recorded in 8 Marathwada Dist

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 8 (UNI) Over 32,000 candidates contesting 2018 gram panchayat seats in Marathwada will have their fate decided here on October 9. the elections for which were held yesterday. Eight districts of Marathwada region recorded 80 per cent polling, which was by and large peaceful barring a few stray incidents. The election sources said 186 gram panchayats in Aurangabad district recorded 85 per cent of polling, while 238 panchayats in Jalna district recorded 80 per cent voting......
