Governor, Lalu and CM participate in Paswan's Iftar party

Patna, Oct 8 (UNI) Lok Janashakti Party(LJP) chief and Steel, Chemical and Fertiliser Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today hosted an Iftar party here.

The party was attended by Governor R S Gavai, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and many other dignitaries, including several Ministers, MPs and MLAs.

Mr Gavai greeted the people on the occasion and said that iftars strengthen integrity and brotherhood. '' '' The pious month of Ramzan gives us opportunity to unite irrespective of political differences, '' Mr Prasad said.

''The message of Islam is to maintain peace and harmony among the people without differences and people from every religion unite on this occasion to maintain the brotherhood,'' Mr Paswan said.

Flying squad to check mineral theft in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UNI) In an attempt to check the growing theft and illegal trade of minerals in Orissa, the government today decided to constitute two flying squads comprising police and civil officials. A meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took this decision to set up the squads under the direct supervision of the Inspector General (Law and Order). Each squad will be constituted with the officers from the Forest, Mines and State Police departments have one section of police.....

UCE students resort to relay hunger strike

Sambalpur, Oct 8 (UNI) After peaceful dharna for five days demanding deemed university status, the students of University College of Engineering (UCE) at Burla today resorted to relay hunger strike. Nearly 25 boys and girls of the college sat in the relay hunger strike to intensify their demand. Official sources said a staff council meeting chaired by the principal Professor S K Sanyal was held to find out solutions over the impasse. Two senior staff and students will move to Bhubaneswar.....

New train's first run from New Delhi to Rohtak

Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) The newly launched 4323/4324 Rohtak-New Delhi Express train went on its first journey from New Delhi to Rohtak railway station today. The train was flagged off by the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi from Rewari yesterday. Rohtak M P Deepender Singh Hooda said the new train would be a boon for those travelling between Delhi and Rohtak. Solan, Oct 8 (UNI) A Chandigarh school boy was killed and his five other friends were injured after their car veered off the road and fell into a gorge at Chakki Ka Mour on the Kalka-Shimla National Highway today, police sources said.
