Ecuador says to rejoin OPEC at cartel's next meet

QUITO, Oct 8 (Reuters) Ecuador plans to officially rejoin OPEC at the cartel's next meeting, Ecuador's Oil Minister Galo Chiriboga said today.

Ecuador, which is South America's No. 5 oil producer with an average crude output of around 530,000 barrels per day or bpd, left the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries in 1992.

The US Energy Information Administration says Ecuador was the 11th biggest foreign oil supplier to the United States, shipping an average 189,000 bpd during the first seven months of this year.

Ajax coach Ten Cate set to join Chelsea

AMSTERDAM, Oct 8 (Reuters) Ajax Amsterdam coach Henk Ten Cate is set to join Chelsea after the two clubs reached agreement today. ''Last week, Henk Ten Cate asked Ajax to negotiate with Chelsea after Chelsea contacted him personally,'' the Dutch club said in a statement. DAKAR, Oct 8 (Reuters) Senegal captain El Hadji Diouf announced he was ending his international career today, citing organisational problems at the West African side. ''I have stopped my international career,'' Diouf told commercial radio station RFM in a telephone interview from England, where he plays club football for Premier League Bolton Wanderers. Seppi upsets Baghdatis in Vienna opening round

VIENNA, Oct 8 (Reuters) Italy's Andreas Seppi pulled off an early upset at the Vienna Open today with a 6-2 6-2 defeat of eighth seed Marcos Baghdatis Playing the 2006 Australian Open finalist for the first time, Seppi made light work of their encounter, breaking Baghdatis four times without reply.
