DYFI 'pedal' for SSCP implementation

Madurai, Oct 8 (UNI) Over 100 cadres of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) today took out a bicycle rally from Madurai to Rameswaram to press for early implementation of Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP).

The rally was flagged off by Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader P Mohan MP from Avaniyapuram in the city.

Similar bicycle rallies, which took off from Virudhunagar, Sivaganga and Tuticorin today would converge at Rameswaram on October 10, where a meeting would be held to create awareness among the people about the SSCP.

CPI(M) State Secretary N Varadarajan, DYFI National President Sriramakrishnan and DPA leaders would participate in the meeting.

Mysore Zoo gets female giraffe for captive breeding

Mysore, Oct 8 (UNI) With the arrival of a two-year-old female giraffe from Lucknow zoo, the Mysore Zoo authorities' long drawn out search for one to continue captive breeding has been fulfilled.
