Collector orders magisterial inquiry

Machilipatnam, Oct 8 (UNI) Krishna District Collector Navin Mittal has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a man at Excise Police Station in Thiruvuru this evening.

The man V Venkatesh (54) was found dead in an unused well located in the police station.

The inquiry would be conducted by Nuzvid Revenue Divisional Officer, Krishna District Excise Superintendent S Rajan Babu said here.

The deceased was brought to the police station by the excise personnel based on a complaint that he used to sell illicit arrack.

Station Sub-Inspector P S Rambabu and Constable B Venkateswara Rao were placed under suspension in connection with the incident.

Another TV sting turns out to be fake

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) A sting carried out by a national news channel on trafficking of children under the guise of adoption has turned out to be a fake, according to a preliminary CBI probe. CNN-IBN had claimed to have exposed Preet Mandir, a child adoption agency from Pune. The report alleged that the agency had procured children from unwed mothers and kept them in unhygenic and inhuman conditions at two of its units in Pune, and it charged exorbitant sums.....
