Collector orders magisterial inquiry

Machilipatnam, Oct 8 (UNI) Krishna District Collector Navin Mittal has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a man at Excise Police Station in Thiruvuru this evening.

The man V Venkatesh (54) was found dead in an unused well located in the police station.

The inquiry would be conducted by Nuzvid Revenue Divisional Officer, Krishna District Excise Superintendent S Rajan Babu said here.

The deceased was brought to the police station by the excise personnel based on a complaint that he used to sell illicit arrack.

Station Sub-Inspector P S Rambabu and Constable B Venkateswara Rao were placed under suspension in connection with the incident.

Akola, Maharashtra, Oct 8 (UNI) A candidate, contesting the gram panchayat elections here, committed suicide by setting himself afire yesterday, police today said. Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) A sting carried out by a national news channel on trafficking of children under the guise of adoption has turned out to be a fake, according to a preliminary CBI probe. CNN-IBN had claimed to have exposed Preet Mandir, a child adoption agency from Pune.
