Panaji, Oct 8 (UNI) Reiterating his commitment for transperancy in administration, Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today asserted that the special task force, headed by him, would work for guiding the government in preparation of a comprehensive Regional Plan-2021.
The erstwhile government, headed by Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane, had scrapped the controversial Regional Plan-2011, following an uproar by the public and NGOs under the banner -- Goa Bachao Abhiyan. He had assured them that he would prepare another acceptable plan.
Noted architect and Padma Vibhushan awardee Charles Correa has been appointed vice-chariman of the task force, which will submit its interim report on or before December 15 and the final report by March next. The task force will hold its first meeting this weekend.
Once the government accepts its interim report, it will direct the task force to prepare the final report for submission with a deadline, Mr Kamat told media persons on his return from New Delhi.
The report will be considered as a guideline for preparing the Regional Plan-2021. The task force will suggest an appropriate methodology for preparation of the Regional Plan. The department secretary, Rajiv Yeduvanshi is its also convenor, according to a notification issued by the Town and Country Planning Department.
Other members of the taskforce include Dr S P Deshpande, Prof Edgar Ribeiro, Goa Bachao Abhiyan convenor Dr Oscar Rebello, architects Dean D'Cruz and Rahul Deshpande, Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry representative Mark Rodrigues, Goa Chamber of Housing Industry representative Datta Naik.
