Bali had not taken liquor in the party, says Ahluwalia

Kangra, Oct 8 (UNI) Former Principal Secretary to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Managing Director of Tourism Development Corporation Subash Ahluwalia today said former state transport minister G S Bali was present at the party but he neither drank liquor nor danced with girls present in it.

Disposing before the one-man committee headed by Justice O P Garg here, he said he was invited to the party by one of the minister's friend Raj Arora.

''However, Mr Bali neither drank liquor and nor did he dance with the alleged dance girls during the time I remained in the party,'' he said.

The committee has been appointed by the state government on the recommendations of the High Court to conduct a judicial probe into Mr Bali's alleged behaviour and conduct in his controversial birthday party following which he had to resign from the cabinet.

In reply to a question, Mr Ahluwalia said the girls shown in the sting operation by the news channel were the same girls who were present in the party.

One of the girls was wearing a mini-skirt while all the other girls were wearing normal dresses, he said.

'I do not know the girls and from where they came,'' he added.

On being shown a few photographs by Justice Garg, he said that he was one of the persons shown in the photographs.

Others in the photographs were the minister, his wife and sister, he identified.

The Corporation's managing director said that he remained in the party for few minutes and left the venue along with the minister.

He denied remembering any particular words of a Hindi song that was played during the party and said all that he remember was that some Hindi music was being played in the party.
