Arrest of zila panchayat chief's husband stayed

Allahabad, Oct 8 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has stayed the arrest of the husband of zila panchayat chairperson, Allahabad, Rekha Singh, in connection with an FIR lodged against him on September 24 at Kotwali police station.

This order was passed by a bench comprising Justices K S Rakhra and S C Nigam on a writ petition filed by Rekha's husband Ashok.

The allegation against the petitioner was that he had threatened BSP MLA from City South constituency Nand Gopal Gupta alias Nandi.

Allahabad, Oct 8 (UNI) In a significant judgement, the Allahabad High Court has ruled that the rent enhancement is a fundamental right of a landlord and thus, a notice might be served upon a statutory tenant asking him to enhance and pay the rent/compensation at the prevailing market rent. Morena, MP, Oct 8 (UNI) An ancient 'ashtdhatu' cannon, weighing about 1.5 kg, has been recovered from forest near this district, police said. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Rajesh Mishra said policemen were chasing a jeep, which was fleeing after hitting a bicycle-rider last evening, when the passengers threw the cannon near Rajghat bridge and fled leaving the jeep behind. 2 tourists commit suicide in Varanasi

Varanasi, Oct 8 (UNI) Two tourists allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents here today. Jai Prakash Singh (40) of Buxar in Bihar, was involved into road contracts buisness at the neighbouring Sonebhadra district and had booked a room at a hotel in Parade Kothi area on Saturday.
