Air Arabia introduces flights to Bangalore

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) Air Arabia today announced the introduction of flight services from Sharjah to Bangalore, which will start from October 15.

The flights will operate four times per week, said a Air Arabia release here.

Air Arabia Commercial Director Kyle Haywood said ''Our rapidly expanding route destination network between India and West Asia seeks to give those who travel between these two regions low-cost fares, along with the highest quality of service possible''.

Flights to Bangalore will depart from Sharjah at 2250 hours local time and arrive in Bangalore at 0420 hours local time. Return flights will leave Bangalore at 0505 hours local time and arrive in Sharjah at 0750 hours local time.

Bangalore is the ninth destination for the airline in India after it started operations to Coimbatore on October 1. It has flights connecting different Indian cities such as Ahmedabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur and Thiruvanathapuram to the Gulf.

The frequency of flights is expected to increase by the end of October this year, added the release.

AIR to launch dedicated news channel - DG

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UNI) In a bid to counter the competition from electronic media, All India Radio (AIR) is seriously contemplating to introduce a dedicated news channel during the 11th Plan period, Director General P K Bandopadhaya today said. Mr Bandopadhaya, who was here in connection with the inauguration of Orientation workshop for PTC of AIR and DD, told newsmen that the Bureau of Audience Research (BAR) had conducted a survey on the possibility of a dedicated news channel for AIR.....

Six per cent DA for Orissa govt employees

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced six per cent DA for all the government and all aided educational institutions' employees in the state. The DA will be made effective from January 2007 but the employees would receive the arrear DA from January 2007 to September 2007 after March 2008 as the necessary fund for the purpose would be passed in the next Supplementary budget, official sources said. The government also approved the 13 per cent arrear.....

Deora meets PM, FM on fuel prices

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the possible hike in fuel prices along with issuing of oil bonds to the oil marketing companies (OMCs) who are incurring heavy losses due to surging global crude oil prices. Mr Deora also met Finance Minister P Chidambaram during the talks prompted by the rising oil prices in international market.
