Youth held for possessing explosives

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 6 (UNI) A 24-year-old person was arrested for possessing huge quantity of explosives at Nedumalai village near here today.

Police said based on a tip-off, a special police team raided the premises of G Rajesh and seized six bags of explosives, including fuse wires, gelatine sticks and detonators.

He was possessing the explosives without valid licence, the police added.

Lonavala, Maharashtra, Oct 6 (UNI) Five people all working as 'coolies' at the Lonavala Railway Station were found dead this morning in the vegetable market at Lonavala while four others were injured in a suspected case of lynching. The five labourers were found dead on hand carts. Four others who were injured were rushed to a hospital of whom two have been brought to Pune's Sassoon Hospital, Lanavala Police Control told UNI. Srinagar, Oct 6 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered an inquiry into alleged misappropriation of India Awas Yogna (IAY) funds in the border town of Gurez. An official spokesman said today that Minister for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak has directed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bandipora to constitute a committee under the charge of Additional Deputy Commissioner to conduct the inquiry. He said the matter came to light after local people alleged that the officials had misappropriated.....

Fire breaks out in Mayur Bhawan

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Fire broke out in the fifth floor of a multi-storeyed building at Connaught Place area early this morning, fire brigade officials said. It took the fire service personnel more than three hours to douse the flames which broke out at 0505 hrs. Thirty fire engines and rescue vehicles were rushed to put off the blaze at Mayur Bhawan which houses the offices of the Income Tax and other government departments. No casualties or injuries were.....

Four killed in a road accident in Moradabad

Bareilly, Oct 6 (UNI) Four persons died on the spot and 12 others were injured when a jeep hit a stationary tempo on Moradabad-Agra highway under Kundarki police station of Moradabad district late last night. Three of the deceased had been identified as Ved Prakash(40), Sakoor (42) and Khemchand, Inspector General of Police (IG) , Bareilly Zone Gurbachan Lal said here this morning. Injured have been admitted to hospital. All the victims were aboard the jeep when the accident took place......

Two soldiers and four ultras killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 6: Two soldiers and four militants-- three Pakistani infiltrators and one Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) commander-- were killed in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said. Militants attacked a security force search party at Zainpora in south Kashmir district of Shopian, they said. Troops also retaliated and in the night-long fierce encounter one soldier and a LeT commander Abu Furkan were killed and two jawans wounded. The injured were hospitalised, they said adding reinforcement was rushed to the area from nearby.....
