Yediyurappa confident of BJP returning to power on its own in K'taka

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader B S Yediyuyrappa today vowed to return his party to power in Karnataka on its own in the next assembly elections.

Talking to newsmen at the airport soon after his arrival from New Delhi, he thanked the people of Karnataka for their cooperation during the last 20 months. " The party had come out of power following failure of Coalition Partner Janata Dal (Secular) not keeping its words." He advised the party workers to strive for the party victory in the next elections.

Earlier Mr Yediyurappa, accompanied by party State Chief D V Sadananda Gowda and Mr Ananth Kumar, MP were accorded a warm welcome by hundreds of party workers who had gathered at the airport.

Mr Yediyurappa said that BJP Legislature Party would meet tomorrow and then he would meet the Governor to submit a letter formally withdrawing the support to JD(S).

Maoist-sponsored bandh in three districts of Bengal

Bankura, Oct 6 (UNI) Maoists today called for a bandh in Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore districts, protesting the alleged nexus between the ruling party and the ration dealers in the state. A 12-hour bandh had been called in Purulia and Bankura districts while Midnapore observed a 24-hour bandh in protest against the 'corrupted ration dealers'. Hot and humid weather persists in Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 06 (UNI) Generally hot and humid weather kept people yearning for more rainfall in Bengal. Alipore Met office sources said the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 35.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal and the minimum was recorded at 27.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
