Yediyurappa appeals to Congress to face election

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) The BJP, which has decided to withdraw its support to its coalition partner Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka, today appealed to Congress not to join hands with JD(S) and insted face elections.

Deputy Chief Minister and Senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa, who on his arrival vowed to bring back his party to power on its own in the next elections, said that Congress, for the last 20 months was hurling charges against the BJP-JD(S) coalition Government and demanding dismissal. ''Hence it should now go to peoples court'', he added.

Mr Yediyurappa, thanked his Party national leaders for taking a decision to withdraw support to JD(S) following the betrayal on transfer of power issue.

He said the BJP Legislators would meet in the morning before going to the Governor for handing over withdrawal support letter.

Party MLAs and MPs would take out a procession from Mahatma Gandhi statue to Raj Bhavan.

Severely criticising former Prime Minister and JD (s) supremo H D Deve Gowda for playing a major role in pursuing his son and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy not to hand-over power to BJP, Mr Yediyurappa said '' he pitied on Mr Kumaraswamy for becoming a scape goat in the hands of his own father''.

He said the party has also taken a decision to undertake a whirlwind tour of the State and explain to the people about the treachery meted out to BJP by JD(S).

Mr Yediyurappa also criticised that both Congress and JD(S) were trying to appease minorities with an eye on elections, ignoring majority community in the society.

He said Chief Minister had maintained silence for all these days and followed the 'Raja Dharma' in its letter and spirit. BJP had also never crossed Lakshman Rekha in the interest of smooth sailing of the coalition set up which was doing good works in the State.

Senior leader Ananth Kumar, who was also present, alleged that JD(S) had violated the peoples mandate. BJP would highlight the failure in honouring the agreement by JD(S) and failures of Congress during the tour of the state.
