Veterans minithon to be held on Oct 28

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) Masters Athletic Association of Maharashtra will organise the 1st National Veterans Minithon on October 28 at Thane under the auspices of Veterans Athletics Federation of India.

The minithon, whose slogan is 'Run for Health', will be held at Upvan Lake, near Mayor's Bungalow, Pokhran Road, Thane West, a release issued here today stated.

For the first time, winners up to sixth places in every event will be given cash awards. The prize money breakup for winners is 21 km (Rs 10,000), 10 km (Rs 7,500) and other event winners (Rs 5,000).

The total prize money is Rs 3 lakh.

Entry is open only to athletes from affiliated state units and open to all Maharashtra athletes, the release added.

Iran has 43 cholera cases mainly near Iraq-report

TEHRAN, Oct 6 (Reuters) Iran today said it had 43 cholera cases, four times more than previously announced, and added they were mostly near Iraq where there has been an outbreak of the disease, an Iranian news agency reported. A World Health Organisation (WHO) official said on Thursday 10 cases had been confirmed in Iran. Association demands merger of four insurance companies

Patna, Oct 6 (UNI) General Insurance Employees' All India Association today demanded floating of a new insurance company through merger of the four existing insurance companies. Over 6 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) Over 6.81 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in various mandis of Haryana so far. Six government procuring agencies have procured 3.95 lakh tonnes of paddy so far while the millers have purchased 2.85 lakh MTs, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.
