Two shipwrecked Chinese sailors rescued

Midnapore, Oct 6 (UNI) Two Chinese sailors, whose ship sank in the Andaman Sea on October 2, were today rescued by a Singaporean ship and brought to Haldia.

The members of the Great Tribune first spotted two life jackets in the sea on the midnight of October 3. Later, they found the sailors Shen Leu and Jhu Ye Guan. They had been in the water for 24 hours before being rescued.

The China-bound Heng Tai, carrying iron dust, had left Haldia on September 28 with 28 crew members. However, it ran into a storm near the Andaman Islands and sank on October 2.

The coast guards managed to rescue 26 crew members the very same day. However, two of them were missing, Haldia Coast Guard Inspector Incharge Himadri Banerjee said.

Shen and Jhu were the only ones to have jumped off the ship, Laltu Bhattacharya, the shipping executive of the Atlantic Shipping, the company that owns the Great Tribune, said.

Lawyers hold rallies in Lahore and Balochistan against election

HC rejects AJSU candidates writ petition

Forest Department workers protest kidnapping of 2 colleagues

Badaun, Oct 6 (UNI) Forest Department workers today staged a massive protest in Bareilly and Moradabad divisions, following the abduction of their two colleagues here. Veer Pal Singh and Jamuna Prasad were kidnapped on September 29 by some unidentified miscreants. Later, Rs 10 lakh were demanded as ransom. The workers stormed the Forest Deparment Offices and demanded the release of the kidnapped. They also warned to boycott work on October 9, if the colleagues were not rescued by then. UNI.....
