Train derails between Lucknow-Allahabad,traffic disrupted

Lucknow, Oct 6 (UNI) One person was injured and traffic on the Lucknow-Allahabad route was severely affected following derailment of 13 bogies of Varanasi bound 4258 Kashi Vishwanath Express near Kankaha railway station early today.

Work was on in full swing to restore the traffic by 1800 hrs this evening, the Divisional Railway Manager told UNI this morning.

The New Delhi-bound 4257 Kashi Vishwanath Express and 377 Allahabad-Bareilly passenger have been cancelled for toady while routes of several trains inluding 4512 Nauchandi Express,4265/4266 Janta Express, 4215 Ganga Gomati Express, 3005/3006 Punjab Mail, 2875 Neelanchal Express, 2355 Archana Express and 4307/4308 Bareilly-Mughalsarai train has been diverted. These trains would run via Sultanpur till the damaged track was restored, he said.

Other inter-city trains from Lucknow to Varanasi, Pratapgarh to Kanpur have also been cancelled.

Meanwhile, the seven remaining coaches of the derailed train have been sent to Varanasi while the Northern Railway have made arrangements of buses to send starnded passengers to their respective destinations, the NR DCM said.

He said the helpline lines had been opened and the arrangement of food for the passengers was also in place at the site.

Mr Gupta said that the reasons behind the derailment was being ascertained as the team of experts had already reached the place of derailment.

Youth held for possessing explosives

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 6 (UNI) A 24-year-old person was arrested for possessing huge quantity of explosives at Nedumalai village near here today. Police said based on a tip-off, a special police team raided the premises of G Rajesh and seized six bags of explosives, including fuse wires, gelatine sticks and detonators. Suspected lynching in Lonavala

Lonavala, Maharashtra, Oct 6 (UNI) Five people all working as 'coolies' at the Lonavala Railway Station were found dead this morning in the vegetable market at Lonavala while four others were injured in a suspected case of lynching. The five labourers were found dead on hand carts. Four others who were injured were rushed to a hospital of whom two have been brought to Pune's Sassoon Hospital, Lanavala Police Control told UNI.
