Tension over vacating shop on SC directive

Hoshangabad (MP), Oct 6 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Itarsi town in this district after two groups clashed when a shop was being vacated on the Supreme Court's directive, police said.

Police personnel had been deployed and the situation was under control, official sources said today.

Local Sindhi Samaj President Harish Mehani has been taken into custody on the charge of causing hindrance in government work, rioting and assault, police said.

Supporters of tenant Rajpal Sindhi, who runs a hotel, and shop owner Pawan Agrawal clashed yesterday when his shop, in front of Itarsi railway station, was being vacated on the directive of the apex court.

Three cases had been registered in this regard mainly against Harish Mehani and his supporters.

The Supreme Court had directed Civil Judge Payaglal Dinkar to handover possession of the shop to Pawan Agrawal before October 16.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kailash Bundela was present when it was being vacated.

Later the shop was flattened with JCB machine, official sources said.

TILUWA displays 1170 pieces of embroidery works

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 6 (UNI) The Tiruchi Innovative Ladies United Needle Work Association (TILUWA) today displayed 1170 pieces of embroidery works in a bid to enter Limca Book of World Records. TILUWA President Usha Sridhar said the 1,170 pieces, depicting the tower of Srirangam temple, were in different colours. The pieces were the result of joint work by over 900 volunteers for nearly one month. Raj: Meenas plan agitation to protect quotas

Jaipur, Oct 6: Close on the heels of the Gujjars kicking off their second phase of agitations for ST reservation with mass arrests on October 2, the Meenas have threatned to take to the streets to counter any attempt to tamper with the existing ST list. Jangati Arakshan Bachao Samyukt Sangarsh samiti president Ram Narayan Meena alleged that the state governemnt failed to tackle the Gujjar agitations and warned the authourities of dangerous consequecnes if any effort was made to tamper.....

Iran road crash kills 17, injures 21: Agency

Tehran, Oct 6: A truck and a passenger bus collided in Tehran province today killing 17 people and injuring 21, the official IRNA news agency reported. The two vehicles crashed northeast of the capital, IRNA quoted Mehran Alipour, an official from Tehran's emergency centre, as saying. He said three of the injured were in critical condition. Iran has one of the highest road accident rates in the world, blamed on inadequate police supervision, poor quality roads and reckless driving. Reuters>.....
