Sudesh Mahto misusing AJSU name : Besra

Jamshedpur, Oct 6 (UNI) Founder of All Jharkhand Students' Union (AJSU) and Jharkhand People's Party (JPP) general secretary Surya Singh Besra today charged the AJSU president and former Jharkhand Minister Sudesh Mahto with misusing the name of the organisation.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Besra said the ongoing 10th convention of the AJSU being held here was illegal and unconstitutional as the Election Commission had already ordered Mr Mahto not to use the name of the organisation as political party as it was purely a student's organisation.

Significantly, the EC had registered the AJSU as political party on November 15,2002 based on an affidavit, submitted by Mr Mahto. But later Mr Besra complained to the EC that Mr Mahto won the 2000 the then Bihar Assembly election as a cadidate of the United Goans Democratic Party (UNGDP) and he also resigned from the president and the member of AJSU on October 18, 2002.

Mr Mahto also won the 2005 Jharkhand Assembly election on a ticket of the AJSU from Silli Assembly seat.

On the basis of the complaint of Mr Besra, the EC asked Mr Mahto on May 29, 2007 to mody the name of the party as AJSU was a student wing of the JPP.

Mr Besra alleged that despite the clear instruction of the EC to modify the name of the party, Mr Mahto did not pay any heed and was using the name of the AJSU and holding convention, which was illegal.

Mr Besra said he would wirte to the EC for violating its order by Mr Mahto and furnishing false affidavit for the registration of the AJSU as political party and also wrtie to the Speaker of Jharkhand Assembly to disqualify Mr Mahto as an MLA as his action came under anti-defection.

Mr Besra further alleged that Mr Mahto was trying to change the name of party as ''All Jharkhand Socialist Union'' to use its abbreviation as the AJSU, which was also fraudulent.
