SP to hold rally in Lucknow on Oct 24

Lucknow, Oct 6 (UNI) Alleging the ruling BSP leadership was targeting the party leaders and workers by levelling outrageous charges, the Samajwadi Party today announced to launch a 'do or die' battle against the excesses of the present government in Uttar Pradesh.

The BSP leadership had been using state bureaucracy against SP workers and had so far lodged over ten thousand false cases against the party workers during the last four months, the senior SP leader Ram Govind Chaudahry said in a press conference. Leader of the opposition in Legislative Council Ahmad Hasan and senior party leader Naresh Agarwal were also present on the occasion.

He said the recent charges of sexual exploitation in the police recruitments were fabricated and were being levelled at the behest of BSP leadership.

''SP would expose certain girls who had been promised monetary and other favours to malign the image of senior SP leaders and some officers in the name of sexual harassment,'' Mr Chaudhary said.

He said the party would stage demonstrations at tahsil headqaurters on October 15 followed by a massive rally in the state capital on October 24 which would be addressed by the SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav. If the government did not mend its ways by then, the party would launch a 'karo ya maro(Do or Die)' battle to dislodge the present government, he said.
