Sonia says party unfazed by election prospects

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Sounding the possibility of early elections, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today said her party was prepared to face the people.

"If there is an election, we will face it," she said at an 'Iftar' party hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Echoing his party chief's views, Dr Singh said "nothing is inevitable" to a question if he felt there would be snap polls.

Ms Gandhi and Dr Singh, however, played down the threat from the Left on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

"The UPA has no concern about the future of our government," Ms GAndhi said.

DR Singh said the dialogue between the Left and the UPA on the nuke deal had been continuing. "As long as there is dialogue, you should hope for the best." UNI

Kumaraswamy rules out joining hans with Congress for survival

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today ruled out possibility of seeking Congress support for his survival following coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party deciding to withdraw its support. Talking to newsmen on his arrival at the Airport, he said that "the situation does not arise now, we have sufficient strength to fight on our own". Six killed, 3 injured in lynching at Lonavala

Lonavala, Maharashtra, Oct 6 (UNI) Six persons, working as 'coolies' at the Lonavala railway station, were murdered and three others injured while they were sleeping for the paltry money they had in the vegetable market here. The incident happened last night. Lonavala Police Control told UNI that the six labourers were found dead on hand carts.
