Seiko announces launch of Velatura watches in association with YAI

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) Seiko Watch today announced the launch of their most anticipated collection of the year, Velatura - a collection made specifically for life at sea, in conjunction with the season opening Regatta in association with the Yatching Association of India (YAI) here.

Seiko Velatura watches combine pin-point accuracy with a stylish look to make its wearers the envy of the marina.

The launch of the Sailing season opener 'Regatta' in India was under the burgee of Sea Cadet Sailing and supported by the Yatching Association of India, Indian Navy, the Indian Army and other reputed sailing clubs in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Seiko Watch Executive Director and COO Takashi Wakuyama said, ''Seiko as a watch has always been known for its 'classy active' look. Our watches are designed and manufactured keeping in mind the major demands of high quality performance sports, but on top of this we have actual sailors and Formula 1 racers involved in the critical design process,'' he said, adding that ''Our association with the sport of sailing in India is in tune with Seiko's Global Strategy.'' Announcing Seiko India's foray into sports like sailing, Seiko Watch India Managing Director Atushi Kaneko said, ''Internationally Seiko has always been closely associated with sports and have been official timekeepers in various Olympics and football World Cups. Tanzania tells Burundi rebels to join monitor team

BUJUMBURA, Oct 6 (Reuters) Tanzania said exiled leaders of a Burundi rebel group may have to leave unless they agree to return to a joint ceasefire monitoring team. The Forces for National Liberation (FNL) rebels quit a ceasefire monitoring team in July, sparking fears of renewed violence in the tiny central African country. Poland's Kaczynskis near majority in parliament-poll

WARSAW, Oct 6 (Reuters) The party of the ruling Kaczynski twins may be close to winning a parliamentary majority in the Polish elections in two weeks, allowing the conservatives to create a one-party cabinet, a poll showed today. The party of Jaroslaw and Lech Kaczynski, Poland's prime minister and president, is backed by 41 per cent of Poles, according a poll commissioned by the Wprost magazine, a record showing for the party. Iran to reopen border with Iraq Kurdish area-report

TEHRAN, Oct 6 (Reuters) Iran plans to reopen a border with Iraq's Kurdish region, an Iranian news agency reported today, after Iraqi officials said it was closed last month in protest at the detention of Iranians by US forces. Iran had not previously given a clear explanation for the closure reported by Iraqi officials.
