No nominations for Mormugao Parliamentary by-election so far

Panaji, Oct 6 (UNI) On the second day of filing nominations for the October 30 by-election to the Mormugao Parliamentary constituency in south Goa, no papers were submitted today.

The south Goa Collector G P Naik, who is also the returning officer at Margao, said the last date for filing nominations was October 12. Scrutiny will be held on October 13 and withdrawals will be allowed till October 15.

HC asks J'kand govt to seek report over Karunanidhi issue

Ranchi, Oct 6 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today granted one week to the state government to seek information from the officials concerned why the First Information Report (FIR) was not registered against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for making derogatory remarks about Lord Rama. Justice Amreshwar Sahay passed the order while hearing a writ petition, filed by Ram Subhak Singh, an advocate of Jharkhand High Court.
