No need to debate over Karunanidhi's statement: Gaud

Indore, Oct 6 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Lakshman Singh Gaud today said the BJP did not deem it necessary to enter into debate over statement by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi regarding Lord Rama.

''Lord Rama is centre point of Indian culture. We do not have any doubts over it,'' Mr Gaud told a press conference here.

He said the BJP did not even consider Mr Karunanidhi's statement even worth giving thought.

Mr Gaud inclusion of chapter related to Lord Rama in syllabus had been proposed.

Nagpur, Oct 6 (UNI) As many as 172 naxalites have surrendered during the first two years of the Maharashtra government's 'surrender scheme' for outlaws in Gadchiroli district of Vidarbha region. According to police, the 172 naxalites surrendered between August 29, 2005, when the scheme was launched, and August 28, 2007. Of these, 158 naxalites, including four dalam commanders/deputy commanders, had received the benefits of the scheme, including financial assistance, a press statement said.
