National seminar on LTA technology from October 12-13

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) A national seminar on 'Strategic Applications of Lighter than Air Vehicles at High Altitudes (SALTA-2007)' would be organised at the Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) Headquarters at Manali on October 12-13.

Dr R N Sarwade, Director, SASE, informed reporters here today that the seminar was being jointly organised by the SASE, Chandigarh; the Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness (RCMA) Chandigarh; the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), Agra and Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh.

The seminar would help fulfill a long-felt need of providing a single platform that could network technology practitioners from diverse domains of defence research and development (R&D) and bridge the gap between users, manufacturers, designers and also to create awareness about user requirements and expectations of Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) technologies in high altitude areas, he said.

French families leave Algeria on security worries

ALGIERS, Oct 6 (Reuters) Families of French nationals working for Michelin in Algeria have been repatriated on fears of a security deterioration in the former French colony, a senior French diplomat and the company said today. LONDON, Oct 6 (Reuters) Prince William, second in line to the British throne, said today he was ''deeply saddened'' by news that his mentor from army officer training school had been killed in action in Afghanistan.
