Raj: Meenas plan agitation to protect quotas


Jaipur, Oct 6: Close on the heels of the Gujjars kicking off their second phase of agitations for ST reservation with mass arrests on October 2, the Meenas have threatned to take to the streets to counter any attempt to tamper with the existing ST list.

Jangati Arakshan Bachao Samyukt Sangarsh samiti president Ram Narayan Meena alleged that the state governemnt failed to tackle the Gujjar agitations and warned the authourities of dangerous consequecnes if any effort was made to tamper with the present ST list in the state.

The Samiti at its meeting yesterday decided to organise half a dozen mass meetings starting from October 14 at various districts which Meena leaders from all political parties would attend.

About 60,000 Gujjars had courted arrest on October 2 on their second phase of peaceful agitations demanding their inclusion in the ST list.

Raj: 16 families return into Khalsa Panth

Sriganganagar, May 21: Amid row over the activities of Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, as many as 16 families of nearby 3-H Chhoti village, followers of the Dera mission, have returned into the Khalsa Panth. These families were baptised into the Khalsa Panth in a brief religious function held in the village gurdwara on Saturday evening.
