Marandi acquitted in case of violation of model code of conduct

Dumka, Oct 6 (UNI) A local court today acquitted Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi in a 12-year-old case of violation of the model code of conduct in this district.

The court of First Class Magistrate S S Fatmi delivered the judgement as no witness was produced against Mr Marandi in the court.

According to the prosecution, a case was lodged against Mr Marandi in 1995 in the Masalia police station charging him with luring the voters of Tasria and Ajmeri villages.

12 death sentences, 251 life in Bihar this year

Patna, Oct 6 (UNI) Twelve people have been awarded death sentences and 251 life imprisonment in connection with various criminal cases, including those involving some high-profile politicians in Bihar, so far this year. State police headquarters sources said three influential politicians--former MP Anand Mohan and former MLAs--Akhlaque Ahmad and Arun Kumar were awarded death sentences by a lower court in Patna on October 3 in connection with the murder of former Gopalganj District Magistrate G Krishnaiya, who was beaten to death.....

Chouhan reviews water resource department activities

Mizoram to renew 'rats' tails-for-money' campaign

Aizawl, Oct 6 (UNI) The Mizoram government has decided to renew the 'rats' tail-for-money', to combat multiplication of rats due to gregarious bamboo flowering or Mautam. Agriculture Minister H Rammawi today announced that the government would offer the farmers Rs two for each rat's tail they collect to encourage killing of rats. ECoR to run special trains to clear Puja rush

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6 (UNI) East Coast Railway has decided to run special trains towards Hatia and Puducherry to avoid rush during the Puja Season and also for the convenience of passengers. According to the ECoR release issued here today, a pair of weekly Durga Puja Special train will run between Puri and Hatia from October 9 to November 21.
