Kumaraswamy rules out joining hans with Congress for survival

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today ruled out possibility of seeking Congress support for his survival following coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party deciding to withdraw its support.

Talking to newsmen on his arrival at the Airport, he said that "the situation does not arise now, we have sufficient strength to fight on our own".

Strongly defending his party's decision in not handing over power to BJP, Mr Kumaraswamy charged that BJP leaders had no minimum curtecy to consult him on transfer of power. Mr Yediyurappa had not even bothered when his party leaders in Bellary strongly criticised his father Mr Deve Gowda and himself. "Should I push my father to death bed and handover power to them, he questioned.

To another question whether he would meet the governor and submit resignation tomorrow, Mr Kumaraswamy said that it was only a speculation.

When asked whether still there was room for talks with BJP, he said that "in politics anything may happen, but they suggested that I should resign and discuss with them, but nothing is there to discuss." UNI

Athavale, Shegaonkar to attend Buddhist conference in S Korea

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) Republican Party of India (RPI) president and MP Ramdas Athavale and Maharashtra Minister of State for Housing Pritamkumar Shegaonkar will fly to south korea to attend the Buddhist conference organised by the World Buddhist fellowship. Basava Dala activists burnt effigy of Gowda

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Activists of Rashtriya Basava Dala today burnt effigy of former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) National President H D Deve Gowda for not honouring the promise of handing over power to coalition partner BJP in Karnataka. They also took out a protest march from the Gandhi statue and burnt the effigy of Mr Gowda near Basaveshwara statute. UNI.....

Yediyurappa confident of BJP returning to power on its own

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa today vowed to lead his party to power in Karnataka on its own in the next Assembly elections. Talking to newspersons at the airport soon after his arrival from New Delhi, he thanked the people of Karnataka for their co-operation during the last 20 months. '' The party had come out of the government following failure of coalition partner JD (S) to keep up its words''. He advised the party workers.....
