Kumaraswamy rules out joining hands with Congress for survival

Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today ruled out the possibility of seeking Congress support for his survival following coalition partner BJP deciding to withdraw its support.

Talking to newspersons on his arrival at the Airport, he said ''the situation does not arise now, we have sufficient strength to fight on our own''.

Strongly defending his party's decision in not handing over power to BJP, Mr Kumaraswamy charged that BJP leaders had no minimum courtesy to consult him on transfer of power. Mr Yediyurappa had not even bothered when his party leaders in Bellary strongly criticised his father Deve Gowda and himself, he added.

''Should I push my father to death bed and hand-over power to them,'' he sought to know.

To another question whether he would meet the Governor and submit his resignation tomorrow, Mr Kumaraswamy said that this was only speculation.

When asked whether still there was room for talks with BJP, he said that ''in politics anything may happen, but they suggested that I should resign and discuss with them, but there is nothing to discuss.'' UNI
