Hot and humid weather persists in Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 06 (UNI) Generally hot and humid weather kept people yearning for more rainfall in Bengal.

Alipore Met office sources said the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 35.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal and the minimum was recorded at 27.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

Humidity in the city remained high with maximum relative humidity being pegged at 92 per cent.

The city recorded traces of rainfall in some parts. The sky will generally remain cloudy with possibility of few spells of rainfall or thunder shower in the next 24 hours.

Orissa seeks Rs 850 cr under NFSM scheme

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6 (UNI) The Orissa government has sought Rs 850 crore for the implementation of the National Food Security Mission (NFSM) in the state during the 11th five year plan period in the state. A high-level meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, here decided to implement the NFSM and National Agricultural Development Programme from this year.
