Gulbarga, Oct 6 (UNI) Twenty two players from 14 countries, besides Indian tennis players, will vie for honours in 15,000 dollar 'Gulbarga Open' ITF Tennis tournament to be held here from October 22 to 28.

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey, who is also the Organising Committee head, told newspersons here that the singles main draw would be of 32 players including eight qualifiers and four wild card entrants.

Pandey said the tournament was being held in the backward Gulbarga city as part of Karanataka State Lawn Tennis Association's (KSLTA) initiative to develop tennis in the districts.

He said the courts at the Chandrasekhar Patil Stadium were being relaid and floodlights were also being installed to enable the matches to be played in the evening.

Doordarshan Sports Channel would telecast live the semi-final and final matches, Pandey added.
