Ahmedabad, Oct 6 (UNI) A fleet of glimmering Mercedes-Benz cars today zipped back to back across the streets in the city and highways of Gujarat as a part of 'Mercedes-Benz: The India Trail', a unique pan-India drive organised by DaimlerChrysler India.

The fleet of Mercedes Benz cars were flagged off by its maker company DaimlerChrysler's Director (corporate affairs), Suhas Kadlaskar here this afternoon.

'Mercedes-Benz: The India Trail' features the complete portfolio of diesel cars from the Mercedes-Benz stable in India- S-Class, C-Class, E-Class, M-Class, the Bio-Diesel C-Class and the Viano.

The seven cars in this entourage will cover a cumulative distance of more than 50,000 km, which was started from Pune on September 17, which will ultimately be culminated in New Delhi on October 10.

Speaking at a news conference here, Mr Kadlaskar said ''The DaimlerChrysler pioneered the luxury car segment in India. We have completed 12 successful years of our operations in this country. We also see a lot of parallels between the country and the Mercedes-Benz brand -- both have a distinguished history, a strong lineage and epitomize diversity. To celebrate this connection and commemorate our strong ties with the nation, we have organized this pan-India drive. Modern Mercedes diesels are powerful, economical and environment-friendly. Hence, our portfolio of diesel cars emerged as an obvious choice for the drive.'' The platform epitomizes the classic synergies of superior automotive technology and driving pleasure across the country, he added.
