Decision on Virk's bail plea deferred till Oct 8

Rupnagar, Oct 6 (UNI) A Sessions Judge here today put off his decision till October 8 on the bail plea filed by former Punjab DGP S S Virk, arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in a disproportionate assets case and for keeping 'Cats.' Virk had filed the bail application on September 29 while co-accused Vijay Pal Singh Dimpi had filed the bail application a few days earlier.

The judge Rekha Mittal had reserved her orders on the bail application for today after hearing the arguments of Public prosecutor Pradeep Mehta and defense counsels on October 4.

However, she did not pronounced the decision today and deferred the same till October 8 for both Virk and Dimpy.

This monsoon 105 pc rainfall recorded throughout India

Pune Oct 6 (UNI) The Southwest monsoon withdrew on September 30, leaving behind an average season with 105 per cent rainfall registered in the country, 12 per cent more than what was forecast, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here. IMD sources stated that wet season in India ended on September 30. And it has been a mixed season. The IMD had predicted around 93 per cent average rain for the country in June as Southwest monsoon officially begins.....

Tea gardens to be reopened soon : Ramesh

Jalpaqiguri, Oct 6 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh today assured that the closed tea gardens in New Jalpaiguri would soon be reopened. Rajasthan initiates informal talks with Gujjar leader

Ajmer, Oct 6 (UNI) The Rajasthan government today initiated informal talks with Gujjar leader Col Kirori Singh Bainsla in jail to find a solution to the situation arising out of the community's 'Jail Bharo' agitation.
