BJP withdraws support to Kumaraswamy Government

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) The BJP today withdrew support to the 20-month old H D Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka, ending hopes of a last minute compromise.

The decision by the BJP Parliamentary Board, the apex body of the party comes after talks between BJP President Rajnath Singh and Janata Dal (Secular) President H D Deve Gowda last night over transfer of power failed to yield ''positive results'', party Vice President Yashwant Sinha announced to newspersons after the hour-long meeting at the BJP headquarters.

He said the Parliamentary Board had directed BJP Legislature Party leader B S Yediyurappa and Karnataka BJP President Sadananda Gowda to rush back to Bangalore and seek an appointment with the state Governor to submit their letter of withdrawal.

Antony Calls for Speedier Indigenisation Efforts

Lawyers hold rallies in Lahore and Balochistan against election

Islamabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Pakistan lawyers held protest rallies in Lahore and Balochistan, against the presidential election. Leading the rally in Balochistan were High Court Bar Association's president Hadi Shakil, advocates Raja Rabnawaz, Sabir Jamil and other senior lawyers. The rally was brought out from the District Court at Quetta. The lawyers also staged a demonstration outside the Balochistan assembly.
