Bihar Govt to honour schools for re-enrolling drop outs

Patna, Oct 6 (UNI) The Bihar government has decided to honour a number of primary schools for successfully bringing back dropout children into regular schooling habit.

In order to ensure universalisation of primary education for primary school students, of six to 14 years, the state government has announced special rewards under the Chief Minister's ''Siksha Yojona Puraskar'' to those the schools which had attained 100 per cent enrolment at block and district level.

According to official sources, there is a fixed criteria on which a school would be rewarded and concerned panchayat, block and district administration be considered for its exceptional performance.

Apart from other terms and conditions, the state government would consider enrolment of 'Out of school children' and their attendance in the school that too by a third party selected--the Bihar Education Project Council, sources said.

The state government is equally keen to involve the Panchayati Raj Institutions for successful implementation of the schemes and also to create a conducive environment for attaining the goal of ''Universal Elementry Education'' in the state, sources said.

It will also strengthen the panchayati raj system by bringing awareness among rural population of Indian population and would definitely help in strengthening the democracy at the grassroots level, sources added.

The rewards would include a cash prize of Rs 2000 for schools, Rs 10,000 for panchayats, Rs 20,000 for blocks and Rs 50,000 for the districts and a letter of appreciation with momento to be given by the state government.

Temperatures fall after snow in higher reaches of HP

3 international teams arrive for WMG

Pune, Oct 6: The stage is all set for the fourth Military World Games (WMG) to be held at Hyderabad from October 14 to 21 as three international teams -- North Korea, Ireland and Belgium arriving in the country today.
