Army provides six computers to school in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 6 (UNI) Under the operation ''Sadbhavana'', troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) handed over six computers to a school in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.

A defence ministry spokesman said the 52 RR (JAK RIF) under the aegis of Headquarter 10 Sector Rashtriya Rifles provided six computers along with a power generator to a government High School Odur, Baramulla under OP Sadbhavana He said the main aim of providing the computer to the rural village schools was to help students to enable them to face the challenges of modern times.

He said villagers of Odur, Malpura, Hiwan, Hardo Khal and Nambalan had requested the Army authorities to provide computers to local schools so that their children could take advantage of Information Technology.

The computers were handed over to the school management by Brigadier K A Muthanna, Commander, 10 Sector RR today in presence of students and other villagers.

Japan to stop naval refueling mission-Nikkei

TOKYO, Oct 6 (Reuters) Japan's government will inform US and British forces that it will withdraw its naval support of US-led military operations in Afghanistan on November 1, the Nikkei business daily said today. Tokyo will alert its coalition partners as early as Monday, it said. The ruling Liberal Democratic Party wants to pass a new law to allow the naval mission, which provides fuel for coalition forces in the Indian Ocean, to resume after the mission's November 1 expiry date......

Smith says Inzamam swansong can be distraction

Foreigners bagging major share of jobs in Britain

London, Oct 6 (UNI) Foreign nationals are grabbing more than 50 per cent of new jobs in Britain, a data compiled by the House of Commons library, using European Labour Force Survey revealed. Between 1997 and 2006, 862,000 jobs (54 per cent of all new jobs) were taken by foreigners while Britons could bag only 731,000 jobs. Besides, the number of British nationals in the workforce went up by only 2.8 per cent as against a rise of 90 per cent.....
