5 wounded in clash between two groups

Moradabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Five people, including a woman, were severely wounded in a clash between two groups over a land dispute in this city of Uttar Pradesh today.

Rakesh Saini, resident of Jayantipur village in Majhola area, had borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh from his neighbour Kishan Lal with a promise to keep his plot in custody.

Later, Rakesh refused to give his plot, enraged over which the two groups clashed this morning.

Kishan Lal, his wife Saroj, son Pooran and passerby Irfan suffered bullet wounds in the firing.

The injured had been admitted to hospital and a search to nab accused launched.

Kashmir police team probes terrorist links at Manipur

Two Bihar police officers suspended for custodial death

Sitamarhi, Oct 6 (UNI) The Bihar government today suspended two police officials and transferred several others in connection with the custodial death of CPI(ML) divisional secretary of Runnisaidpur, Bikaoo Sahni, here yesterday. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Muzaffarpur Range, Gupteshwar Pandey told UNI that the orders of immediate suspension and transfer of concerned police officers had been issued after the CPI(ML) leader, arrested in connection with an alleged rape case, died in police custody at the Dumra police station yesterday......

Govt considering appointing two two Addl solicitor generals : FM

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said the government was considering appointing two additional Solicitor Generals, one to handle cases relating to direct taxes and the other indirect taxes, to improve the quality of government's representation in courts. "Much needs to be done to improve the quality of government representation in courts and appellate tribunals. Faced with giants from the other side, government representatives are often awe struck. This needs to be balanced", Mr Chidambaram said while.....
