Hitech cricket betting racket busted, one held

Bangalore, Oct 5 (UNI) The City Crime Branch police have arrested a native of Indore and busted a high-tech cricket betting racket here today.

According to City Crime Bureau ACP G B Kouri, Kushal Kothari was using credit cards for receiving and making payments from known 'punters' and he had been under the police scanner for nearly one month.

There was no physical exchange of cash and all transactions were being made Online. He was nabbed while receiving betting on the India-Australia one-day match held in Hyderabad today.

Police seized documents in which transactions of nearly Rs 45 lakh was recorded along with a laptop, nine mobile phones, two TVs and Cash of Rs 5240.

On questioning he revealed that he was taking the bets on behalf of one Dilip Tiwari belonging to Rajasthan, the official added.

UN envoy warns of international impact from Myanmar

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 5 (Reuters) The United States said today it would propose a UN Security Council resolution imposing sanctions on Myanmar if the government there does not ''respond constructively'' to international concern about repression of pro-democracy protests.
