Over 100 young diplomats confer, debate world issues in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) About 110 'young diplomats' representing as many countries have converged here to participate in a conference to discuss and debate solutions to several political, social, environmental and economical issues that threaten the world.

In a mock enactment of the UN General Assembly, the 'diplomats' from such countries as Indonesia, Bahrain, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and India passed resolutions, offering unique solutions to problems troubling the world.

''The young leaders stepped into the shoes of real life diplomats and took on the role of Secretary General, President and Vice President of Security Council, ECOSOC, Human Rights Commission, Environment Commission and various Committees of General Assembly,'' said an official spokesman.

The conference, 'Indian Model United Nations Conference' (INMUN), is an attempt at training the young leaders to take the path of dialogue to resolve conflicts instead of choosing violent means, he said.

It also replicated the working of the various bodies of the United Nations. ''A lot of learning took place as we deliberated, issues of global concerns like real life international diplomats,''said Gunjan Chawala, the Secretary General of the INMUN Conference.

It was organised by the Ryan International Group of Institutions.

Group Chairman Augustine F. Pinto said INMUN aims to provide the senior students from across the world, the opportunity to comprehend the dynamics of international diplomacy.

Rao takes exception to BJP's statement on development

Shimla, Oct 4 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Excise and Taxation Minister Rangila Ram Rao today took exception to statements by state BJP leaders on development in the state and said the state had scaled new heights in various sectors. NCP asks Naveen to seek fresh mandate in Orissa

Bhubaneswar,Oct 04 (UNI) The Orissa unit of the National Congress Party(NCP) today dared Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to resign and face fresh election stating that it had already lost the peoples mandate. Talking to newsmen after the first steering committee members meeting,NCP steering Committee chairman Bijaya Mohapatra said the party would like to have a broad base front to defeat the BJD-BJP government in the state. Mr.Mohapatra said the Chief Minister was 'panicked and scared' at the formation of the NCP.....

Namchi Sports Hostel thrash Neemuch school 13-0 in Subroto Cup

New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) Namchi Sports Hostel, Sikkim, thrashed Sri Vyas Vidya Mandir, Neemuch, 13-0 in the U-14 league match of the Subroto Cup Football tournament here today. For the Sikkim team, Uttam Rai scored four goals in the 26th, 45th, 56th and 59th minutes and Richard Lepcha netted three in the 11th, 16th and 57th minutes.
