New Delhi, Sept 27: Aimed at the Indian youth, Microsoft today unveiled its personalised email service, CoolHotmail.com, which will enable each individual to customise his email address.

''The facility can be used by corporates as well, but we still need to put a plan in place for that,'' said Microsoft India Online Services Business Country Manager Jaspreet Bindra.

With over 250 custom domains like rahul@ilovefootball.com or rahul@clubshahrukh.com, every Indian can get a distinct personalised email id, powered by Windows Live Hotmail, he added.

Though a user can always buy a domain name for as low as Rs 800 for a year, the company is offering the service to customers, who can create as many accounts as he likes.

The service provides a user storage facility of five MB as well colour-coded mails for spams and viruses. Microsoft had earlier brought in customised domains Lokhandwalarocks.com in May.

The launch of CoolHotmail.com is aimed at increasing the registered userbase of the Hotmail, the current number of which, Mr Bindra said couldn't be gauged due to absence of a monitoring agency for the purpose.

He said the number of registered users remains low in the country when compared to global figures due to low penetration of broadband in the country.

''Though the government is working hard at achieving the targets, the penetration still remains low. The increase in the broadband will fuel the growth of Internet as a marketing tool as well, which is currently low.'' The website will soon bring in integrated messenger as well, the beta-testing of which is going on.

Water near Mars' surface may be painting dark streaks on it every spring

London, February 15 (ANI): Scientists believe that the dark streaks that appear on Mars' polar dunes every spring may be caused by liquid water near the surface, a fillip for the hunt for life.

The dark streaks of sand a few metres wide slide downslope at about a metre a day.

"They show a branching pattern, so it seems like some liquid material is flowing," New Scientist magazine quoted Akos Kereszturi, of the Collegium Budapest in Hungary, as saying.
