K'taka fails to ask funds properly: Dharam

Gulbarga, Sept 25: Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh today dismissing Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's charge that the Centre did not release funds to meet flood situation, said that the state government in turn had failed in asking for the funds in a proper manner.

Talking to newsmen here today, Mr Dharamsingh said that Mr Yadiyurappa was away from Bangalore to take part in local body election campaign while Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil was in the state capital to hold a review meeting.

He said that despite the Centre asked the state to submit a detailed report in a week over the havoc caused by floods and the requirement of funds by the state and the government failed to respond and now they blame the Center.

Mr Dharamsingh suggested the government to set up "special teams" to carry out rescue and rehabilitation works as most ofthe officials are busy in localbody election works.
