Minister warns MCs to ''clean up'' within four days

Ambala, Sep 13 (UNI) Haryana Local Bodies Minister A C Chaudhary today threatened sanitation and maintenance department officials with transfer if they failed to clean, within four days, the dirty drains and garbage heaps from the areas in their councils in Ambala City and Ambala Sadar.

Expressing his displeasure over the working of municipal councils here, the minister said encroachments and unauthorized construction should be removed immediately and warned that the encroachers and corrupt officials with whose connivance such illegal activities were going on would be dealt with heavy hand.

The Minister, while interacting with the media here, said that after his visit to the twin towns, he had called the executive officers of councils and upbraided them over the poor condition of sanitation.

He said that he would be visiting the cities shortly and they should ensure cleanliness and sanitation.

Flagging infrastructure growth worries industry chamber

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Industry chambers today were unanimous in voicing their concerns on the slackening growth of infrastructure sectors in July and its impact on the overall growth of the economy. Industry chamber Ficci said the slow growth of six infrastructure sectors in July this year will decelerate the overall growth of the economy. It said that the infrastructure bottlenecks have been an impediment on the operations of the Indian industry and the further slowdown of the infrastructure.....

Local court grants bail to BJP MLA in kidnapping case

Anand, Gujarat, Sept 13 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to BJP MLA Dilip Manibhai Patel in connection with a kidnapping and assault case. Chief Judicial Magistrate R M Desai ordered release of Mr Patel, arrested for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and assault case of 2003, on a personal bond of Rs 25,000. Mr Patel was charged with kidnapping a builder, Mithilesh Amin, and local Congress leader, Ulash Patel, and later physically assaulting them at the nearby Vallabh.....

DAP Constable hangs self due to domestic problems

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) A Delhi Armed Police (DAP) Constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his Karawal Nagar residence in North-East Delhi. Bhure Singh, of the DAP 4th Battalion, was found hanging from the fan early morning today by his wife Urmila on the ground floor of their New Chauhanpur residence, according to the police. Though no suicide note has been found, an old diary written in 2004 said he loved his wife but she always quarrelled with.....
