No ''clandestine'' understanding with govt : Left

New Delhi, Sep 12: A day after the UPA-Left committee on the Indo-US nuclear deal held its first meeting, the Left parties dismissed all speculation about the inevitability of a mid-term polls early next year because of the perceived ''irreconcilable differences'' between the Congress and the communists.

Emphasising that they were taking the setting up of the panel and its agenda ''very seriously'', top Left leaders were hopeful the mechanism would be able to resolve differences between the two sides on the nuclear deal.

They also made it clear that the Left had not entered into ''clandestine'' understanding with the government that they would allow the ''uneasy truce'' to persist till the US Congress takes up the issue for its final approval after the finalisation of negotiations with the IAEA and the NSG.

BJP has no clear stance on N-deal: Cong

Khargone, MP, Aug 24: Congress General Secretary and MP Arun Kumar has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party did not display a clear stance vis-a-vis the Indo-US '123' Nuclear Agreement. ''That is why the saffron party is not describing the deal as wrong but nevertheless creating hurdles as it does not desire implementation,'' he told mediapersons at this district headquarters yesterday. Mr Kumar assured that party President Sonia Gandhi was informed of his views regarding selection of a candidate for the Khargone.....
