Arunachal: NCP slams Govt. on power crisis

Itanagar, Sept 04: The Arunachal unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has lambasted the Dorjee Khandu-led Congress government for the ongoing power crisis in the state, particularly the state capital and alleged that the present power scenario in the state is due to lack of proper planning and management of the government.Expressing concern over the frequent breakdown of power in the Capital Complex since last couple of days following break-down of transformers as claimed by the department, party's general secretary Nabam Jollaw alleged that despite the fact that the state government was aware since many years that such a situation would arise one day or the other, but it remained a mute spectator without initiating any alternative means to tide over such crisis. Even after commissioning of the Ranganadi hydro electric project in Lower Subansiri district, the people are not getting regular power supply due to lack of proper planning and mechanism in terms of power policy, he pointed out. The repeated claims of the state government that the state being the power house of the country bears no fruit unless uninterrupted power supply was provided to the people, Mr Jollaw added.

It is worth mentioning here that the state capital reeled under complete darkness since last one week and the department ascribed the reason to 'two transformers not working' in the Chandranagar sub-station.

However, the department has been trying to supply power to the ministers and MLAs bungalos besides high ranking officials through DG sets.
