Karnataka geared up to meet terrorism threat: CM

Bellary, Sept 4: The Karnataka government has geared up to meet the challenges by the terrorists in the State, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today.

Speaking to newspersons he said adequate s steps had been taken by the State government following recent blast in Hyderabad in which about 44 persons were killed and scores of others injured. The state had taken measures to strengthen the police department, especially the Intelligence wing and the State was prepared to meet the challenges.

"We will not allow terrorists to succeed in Karnataka. Our police force has taken necessary steps," he added.

Mr Kumaraswamy said that since the Bangalore City had attracted the world attention by attracting IT, BT majors it might come under the terrorists threat. The state government had taken measures to stop them, he said.

Referring to announcement of elections to the local bodies in the State, Mr Kumaraswamy said that the results would not have any bearing on the performance of the JD(S)-BJP coalition government in the State and it would not be a referendum.

Mr Kumaraswamy was speaking to newsmen after his overnight "Village Stay" in Putala Katte village in Kudlagi taluk in the District.
